Prendendo spunto dal compleanno del frontman dei Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose, che oggi compie 61 anni, voglio parlare di un gruppo che è stato fra i protagonisti assoluti sia con la produzione discografica, che, soprattutto, con i live che li hanno visti protagonisti in tutto il mondo.
Sono riusciti a lasciare il segno sia con loro brani, sia con cover molto personali come, per citare forse la più famosa, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” di Bob Dylan, e con live seguitissimi che riempiono, e continuano tutt’oggi, gli stadi, fra l’altro da citare la loro partecipazione al “Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert” al Wembley Stadium di Londra del 20 aprile 1992.

Guns N’ Roses
Oggi Axl Rose, leader dei Guns N’ Roses, compie 61 anni, infatti è nato il 6 febbraio 2062.
Ed è proprio dei Guns N’ Roses che vi voglio parlare oggi. Gruppo hard rock statunitense nato a Los Angeles nel 1985.
I componenti originali del gruppo sono Axl Rose (voce), Tracii Guns (chitarra solista), Izzy Stradlin (chitarra ritmica e voci), Ole Beich (basso) e Rob Gardner (batteria). Ole Beich lasciò subito il gruppo sostituito da Duff McKagan che esordì ad aprile 1985. Dopo un po’ anche Tracii Guns abbandonò il gruppo sostituito da Slash (Saul Hudson) e di lì a poco anche Rob Gardner abbandonò il gruppo sostituito da Steven Adler. E questa è la formazione che da li a poco arrivò al successo, proponendo un sound potente dove emergono la voce unica di Axl Rose, che compone quasi tutti i testi, e la chitarra di Slash, sia in studio, ma soprattutto dal vivo con esibizioni trasgressive. Nel 1993 iniziarono ad emergere contasti fra Axl Rose e gli altri componenti del gruppo, che porta a numerosi avvicendamenti nel gruppo, con il solo Axl Rose che rimane l’unico componente del gruppo fino al 2016, quando a lui si riuniscono Slash e il bassista Duff McKagan.
In totale hanno venduto oltre 100 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo e sono stati inseriti al novantaduesimo posto nella classifica dei cento migliori artisti secondo Rolling Stone. Il 14 aprile 2012 la formazione originale è stata inserita nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame dai Green Day.
